    The Sandbox’s Alpha Season 3 Launches

    The Sandbox’s Alpha Season 3, ten weeks of out-of-this-world playable experiences on the gaming Metaverse, launches on August 24, and The Sandbox shares what’s in store for users.

    The leading decentralized gaming Metaverse, The Sandbox, announced on Wednesday that it would launch Alpha Season 3 on August 24, 2022. The Alpha Season is a multi-week play-to-earn event that the Animoca Brands subsidiary has hosted regularly since November last year.

    According to The Sandbox, Alpha Season 3 is its biggest Alpha Season to date, with over 90 playable experiences spread across ten weeks. There will be new content for players every day, and anyone can register and play for free by visiting The Sandbox website.

    Alpha Season 3 Playable Experiences

    The Sandbox’s Alpha Season 3 follows on the heels of the highly-successful Alpha Season 2, which had over 325,000 players. The upcoming Season allows players to transform themselves into whomever they wish by creating an avatar or choosing one from the 140,000 playable NFT avatars. 

    Dressed in alternate Metaverse personas, players can dive into a Web3 ecosystem where gaming, art, fashion, music, entertainment, and architecture fuse together. What’s great about the Alpha Season 3 is that The Sandbox has enabled a new form of Web3 gameplay where players can be owners while directly engaging with multiple brands and intellectual properties (IP). 

    There is solo and multiplayer content that includes 27 experiences from various brand partners. These are Steve Aoki, Snoop Dogg, Deadmau5, Sueco, Ubisoft’s Rabbids, Warner Music Group, Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC), World of Women (WoW), Gucci, Tony Hawk, The Smurfs, Metapride, Care Bears, Atari, and so much more.

    There will also be 17 experiences from The Sandbox, 20 experiences backed by The Sandbox Game Maker Fund, 12 user-generated content experiences from independent creators, and 16 experiences from Game Jams.

    Alpha Season 3 Playable External Avatars

    The Sandbox is putting a new spin on interoperability for Alpha Season 3 by voxelizing avatars from 13 well-loved NFT collections. These avatars are playable, so users would have fun choosing which ones to use in the gameplay.

    Imagine yourself playing in Ubisoft’s Rabbids experience using a Steve Aoki avatar. Experience what it’s like to explore the world of The Walking Dead while using a BAYC avatar with in-game utility. Go party at Club XYZ with its new resident DJ Steve Aoki as your Steve Aoki, Cool Cats, WoW Galaxy, Doggy, Cyberkongz, CloneX, and so much more.

    Guaranteed Rewards for Holders

    The Sandbox did say that Alpha Season 3 will be bigger than the first two Seasons, and the gaming Metaverse wasn’t just talking about the experiences. This Season’s guaranteed rewards for NFT holders are also enormous.

    For Alpha Season 3, players must collect Ethos Points, experience points gained through quest completion. Aside from leveling up, players who collect Ethos Points can use them to earn raffle tickets for a chance to win Alpha Season 3 Passes, climb the leaderboard, and earn $SAND rewards. Incidentally, the passes also give holders a chance to win up to 500 $SAND.

    When completing a level, Avatar Holders, NFT collector users, and LAND Owners have the chance to unlock $SAND rewards even without an Alpha Pass. Nevertheless, only players with validated identities are eligible to win prizes.

    Guaranteed Rewards for Alpha Season 3 Players

    Competing for the Leaderboard

    Finally, Alpha Season 3 allows players to compete for the leaderboard, where top-ranking players could receive 1.5 million $SAND. Ranking will be based on total Ethos Points earned per user and completion time. So, the more complicated a quest is, the more a player can earn Ethose Points. And the faster a player is, the better he’ll rank.

    Since all quests are playable, every player gets a chance to improve their scores endlessly. $SAND rewards will be given to the first 5,000 ranked users. A player ranking first on the leaderboard after the Season will receive 30,000 $SAND.

    Leaderboard rewards are claimable after Alpha Season 3 ends, with winners needing to verify their account to claim. The Sandbox will release more details in the coming days.
