RTFKT has just announced two groundbreaking “utilities” specifically for CloneX NFT owners promising exciting times ahead for avatar NFTs.
In a lengthy thread posted on its official Twitter account, RTFKT announced two groundbreaking “utilities” for holders of CloneX NFTs. According to the tweet, CloneX owners will now have the ability to unlock 3D files in various formats and obtain full commercial rights to their avatars.
RTFKT is bullish that these innovative utilities will signal the start of a new wave in the creator economy—the Avatar Economy, as they call it—that connects collectors and creators worldwide. They are confident that this move will spawn and uncover new talents, content, value, intellectual properties (IPs), and brands powered by Clones and RTFKT.
RTFKT 3D Files for CloneX Owners
According to RTFKT, giving the 3D files and full commercial rights to owners is the most significant move they have made to date.
The brand created CloneX NFTs in full 3D from the beginning, but all their work has led to this moment. It is the culmination where digital craftsmanship and the Clone IP commercial rights have been unlocked to CloneX owners. The brand is hoping that starting with this initiative, owners of the NFTs would be able to work hand-in-hand with 3D artists and eventually create their own wearable Web3 fashion brand.

“The [supermodels] of tomorrow aren’t [ambassadors] you pay for a sponsored post or a campaign, it’s your collectors, empowered by the vision you set and the tools you allow them to use to express their creativity. A future where a Brand is not valued by its sole Equity but by its Ecosystem (Brand + Community) Equity. A future World to build together,” said RTFKT’s blog post related to the announcement.
What’s in Store for CloneX Owners
As per RTFKT, the 3D files are tokengated, which means only NFT owners can unlock the files at a unique website. The files will be available in .max .blend .c4d .gltf .fbx files for Unity and Unreal Engine.
Also, the 3D files unlock is in Alpha access. The RTFKT team will continuously update the models, features, and servers throughout the year to make the experience more exciting for users.
A new world of possibilities has opened for 3D artists with the release of the CloneX 3D files Alpha. Maya users will be able to explore the full potential of the files. On the other hand, Blender users need to have some tips and tricks in mind since Blender’s capabilities are a bit more limited. However, RTFKT will adapt the files through updates for beginners to still be able to create unique projects.
They also shared some how-to videos to show CloneX users what they can do with their avatars:

As for having full commercial rights to the NFTs, users will be able to use their Clones to:
- Create derivatives/Mint Fan art NFT
- Make Merchandise
- Vtubing/Modeling
- Make music/videos
- Make a brand/business

However, the Murakami Drip Clones are exempt from the full commercial rights since these are fine art. Users can only create content with the 3D files as long as it is not commercialized or minted.
