The Sandbox will bring two exhibits curated by MoCDA and showcase these in its Metaverse in June and July.
The Sandbox, the virtual world where players can build, own, and monetize gaming experiences in the Ethereum blockchain, collaborates with the Museum of Contemporary Digital Art (MoCDA) for two virtual art exhibitions. Digital art pieces exceptionally curated by the MoCDA will be showcased in two themed exhibits spread across June and July in The Sandbox Metaverse.
The MoCDA is a museum platform seeking to support digital art’s various facets. The platform likewise exhibits an all-inclusive selection of some of the digital art movement’s representative artworks. These are a hodgepodge of some of the works from the mid-20th century creators to modern-day digital artists who are ever-evolving with and adapting to new technological advancements.
Two Themed Exhibits
The Sandbox’s excitement over this collaboration was palpable and apparent when they announced it on their Twitter account.
The first exhibit, “Revisiting the Future: What Will Come as Dreamed by Digital Artists,” will feature artworks especially curated by Filippo Lorenzin. It will run from June 10 to June 24. According to The Sandbox’s press release, this exhibit will investigate how artists in this age can shape the future development of art, society, and technology.
The abovementioned theme will cover some categories: cyborg life, new architecture for a new world, nostalgia for the future, and new pleasures. One of the artworks showcased in the exhibit is the World of Women Galaxy (WoWG) NFT art #1198 (pictured below) by Yam Karkai.

The second exhibit will run from June 24 to July 8. Titled “Impossible Worlds,” it will feature curated artworks by Tom Van Avermaet. As per the press release, the digital realm has provided the artists featured in this exhibit “a space to create their own realities.”
Some featured artists are Lumps, Jenni Pasanen, Giant Swan, Nicebleed, and others. The press release says that the exhibit is a channel allowing viewers “to discover the unique dreamlands” that the featured artists’ imaginations have created. Among the featured artworks in this exhibit is Lumps Supermarket (pictured below) from the Lumps World NFT collection.

True to its theme, this exhibit will showcase artworks depicting creatures you have probably only dreamed about lurking in rainbow forests. As The Sandbox said, “This exhibit is an ode to artists that are world builders, those that like gods and goddesses with digital pencils, VR sculpting tools and AI paint brushes spawn unique universes that may or may not reflect our own.”
