Bored Ape Yacht Club announced that it would be collaborating with Rolling Stone for the second time for some limited edition NFTs.
The “Superbowl of the NFT space,” NFT.NYC 2022 opened its doors to the NFT community on June 20, and to say that its first day was filled to the brim with various activities is an understatement. Apart from meaningful talks from guest speakers, attendees were treated to several side events from some of the biggest names in the NFT space.
One of these events is ApeFest 2022, an exclusive event for holders of Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) and Mutant Ape Yacht Club (MAYC) NFTs. One of the highlights of the first day of ApeFest festivities is the announcement from BAYC regarding its collaboration with Rolling Stone.
BAYC X Rolling Stone
On its official Twitter account, BAYC announced that it is teaming up with Rolling Stone for limited-edition NFT collectibles, including two one-of-one NFTs from BAYC and MAYC. These limited-edition NFTs will come with physical art prints.
It is actually the second collaboration between BAYC and Rolling Stone. Their first partnership was in November 2021, when Rolling Stone featured a Bored Ape on its covers. Two thousand five hundred copies of the limited-edition magazines immediately sold out, and the same magazine cover went up for auction as an NFT.
The first collaboration garnered much attention from the NFT community, and the two giants hope to get the same degree of attention for their second partnership. They are hoping both limited-edition physical and NFT art pieces will be as successful in the auction and sales.
The one-of-one BAYC and MAYC NFTs will be up for auction starting June 22, 2022, at 9:00 AM ET. Alongside the NFT auction is a four-hour sale for each design’s collectible art prints. ApeCoin (APE) holders can purchase the art prints for $100 $APE.
Neither Yuga Labs nor Rolling Stone magazine has revealed any other details about the BAYC and MAYC NFTs and art prints. What is clear is that links to the auction will be shared on Twitter, perhaps on the official accounts of BAYC, Yuga Labs, and Rolling Stone, as the sale starts. So, it’s safe to assume that the auction will be on a first-come, first-served basis.
BAYC at NFT.NYC
Meanwhile, BAYC’s first day at NFT.NYC was undoubtedly one for the books. They released ApeFest 2022 merchandise exclusive to all attendees who came in person. Even those who had their tickets scanned at the venue’s door and those who canceled their tickets can avail of the merchandise online.
Perhaps the highlight of everyone’s day is the opportunity to take a picture with the gigantic Curtis balloon in his signature Hawaiian shirt and Captain’s hat. According to one Twitter user, even Jimmy Fallon, a known BAYC NFT collector, took time to snap a picture beside Curtis.
In other news, the $APE price skyrocketed by 20% in one day. It was backed by a 40% increase in trading volume. It is definitely good news for the Ape community, considering the current state of the market. At the time of writing, the $APE price is trading at $4.77.
