Barely a month since the Goblintown NFT project was launched, speculations about its creators can now be put to rest after the identities were revealed through a Twitter post.

After weeks of speculating who the brains behind the oddly popular Goblintown NFT project were, the truth can finally be told.

In a tell-all, almost four-minute-long video, the official Goblintown Twitter account finally revealed its creators, making some in the NFT community realize how off their guesses were. For an NFT project that was launched without much fanfare in May, it has made an indelible mark in the NFT space and now commands a floor price of Ξ 3.3 or about $3,700 in today’s current price.

    The Goblintown Reveal

The Goblintown NFT project has been creating a lot of noise since it was launched on May 22, 2022. Oddly enough, for a collection named after the colloquial term for the bear market, its trading volume for the past seven days, according to NFT Go, is $7.29 million.

Speculations were rife that Goblintown NFT was a Yuga Labs project, the same brains behind the massively popular Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC). However, they have vehemently denied the connection. And for a good reason.

It turns out Goblintown is a brainchild of Truth Labs, the creators of the Illuminati NFT project and The 187.

The video reveal doesn’t really show the people behind Goblintown; it was just a running text declaration where the creators outlined why they had to out themselves. The creators said they were anticipating the day when they would have to doxx, yet at the same time, they “have been dreading it because this little project is not about us.”

However, given the “huge amount of faith” that the community has given them, they felt it would be irresponsible not to reveal themselves sooner rather than later. They made clear in the video that despite their “unmasking,” they will stay true to their mantra of “No roadmap. No Discord. No utility.”

    NFT Community’s Mixed Reactions

The revelation produced several mixed yet mostly positive reactions from the NFT community. One Twitter user named xdanielx.eth though back to the day when the hosts of The Nifty Alpha Morning Twitter Spaces interviewed Alexander Taub, one of the co-founders of Truth Labs. According to him, the latter’s mysterious smile when a reference was made to Goblintown NFT’s popularity should have been a dead giveaway as to the identities of its creators.

Unknowingly, @piovincenzo_ and @allnick interviewed the founder of @goblintownwtf aka @truth and made a comment about Goblins getting huge.

The smile @ajt tries to hide would have given this away (had I seen it before today)…

Another Twitter user, 0xFezzy, said Goblintown NFT’s big reveal was more impactful than the BAYC reveal.

Non Fungible Nat, another Twitter user, said he was “bullish on this team.” He added that the project has done so much in four weeks and that it “has been rivaling long-standing blue chips,” offering “an immersive Twitter experience for holders and spectators” and providing much “laughter within the crypto space.”

They’ve created so much in 4 weeks. An NFT project that has been rivaling long standing blue chips, an immersive Twitter experience for holders and spectators, story telling, laughter within the crypto space, cope for market conditions and so much more. Bullish on this team.

    Goblintown x NFT.NYC

Initially, there were 10,000 Goblins in the collection. On the mint day, 1,000 Goblintown NFTs were set aside as reserves.

In the video revelation, Truth Labs said that 900 of those would go to the community members of the Illuminati Collective and The 187. How? Every day for the next six months, five Goblintown NFTs from this batch will be raffled off until all have been given away. They will be sharing more details after NFT.NYC, which is happening from June 20 to 23.

Of the remaining 100, 50 will go to the Illuminati DAO. The other 50 will go to some members of the Truth Labs team who did not mint during the project launch.

The Goblintown NFT crew will also be present at the NFT.NYC festivities via their McGoblin Burger truck. The McGoblin Burger is Goblintown NFT’s “burger business” recently opened. The truck will be busy cruising down the streets of New York, making its presence felt at one of the many NFT parties during the week.

There will also be an Illuminati NFT event happening on June 21, and all Goblintown NFT holders are free to attend it and enjoy the midnight goblin party. The party’s location will be tweeted to the holders on the day itself, precisely five minutes before it starts.
