Snoop Dogg and Eminem surprised fans who were at the ongoing ApeFest 2022 when they appeared on stage to premiere their new song.

Snoop Dogg and Eminem made a surprise appearance at the ApeFest 2022 during NFT.NYC. The two premiered a new song, “From the D 2 the LBC,” while featuring its semi-animated music video that featured their Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) NFTs. Seeing the two on stage, you wouldn’t believe they had some serious beef just over a year and a half ago.

In 2020, during an appearance on “The Breakfast Club,” a syndicated American radio show, Snoop Dogg was asked to list his top ten greatest rappers of all time. He left Eminem out of the list, and the latter took it personally.

Both are Dr. Dre proteges, so whatever bad blood boiled between the two was unexpected. However, Snoop Dogg manned up and apologized, and with their surprise appearance at the ApeFest, it seems everything is water under the bridge now.

    New Music Collaboration

On the eve of June 24, Eminem, also known as Marshall Mathers III, took to Twitter to tease about the new music collaboration between him and Snoop Dogg, “From the D 2 the LBC.” His tweet included a comic book-style artwork for the song featuring Snoop Dogg and the “Slim Shady” rapper as cartoon monkeys that is a play on their connection to BAYC.

Took too long to reconnect with @snoopdogg– you know we had to make a movie! https://t.co/087W2OZJOI #FromTheDToTheLBC #curtaincall2 @BoredApeYC pic.twitter.com/k443JqXHON

He posted a follow-up tweet where he shared the link to the official semi-animated music video. We say semi-animated because, throughout the video, Snoop Dogg and Eminem turn into Bored Apes that bear uncanny resemblances to them.

Some words from the song are shoutouts to the pair’s respective hometowns of Detroit and Long Beach. The refrain goes, “Put your doobies high if you reside in 213, let’s see them blunts raised / Whether you east side or west side of the 313, let’s see them guns blaze.”

The crowd at ApeFest was already on fire, with Lil Wayne performing earlier in the night. The venue was packed with NFT enthusiasts, particularly BAYC NFT holders, who came out to support the event and whoever would be performing for the night. The crowd broke into a thunderous cheer when Snoop Dogg and Eminem appeared on stage to thank the audience after the music video premiered.

The last time the two performed on stage was during the Super Bowl LVI halftime show. They performed alongside Kendrick Lamar, 50 Cent, Dr. Dre, Mary J. Blige, and Anderson . Paak at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California.

“From the D 2 the LBC” is Eminem’s second single for 2022. Earlier this month, he collaborated with CeeLo Green on “The King and I,” a Dr. Dre-produced song recorded for the “Elvis” film soundtrack. On the other hand, Snoop Dogg released an album in February, “BODR,” which is an acronym for “Back on Death Row,” since the album was Snoop Dogg’s first album on Death Row Records in 26 years.

    NFT Enthusiasts Both

Both Eminem and Snoop Dogg are known to be NFT enthusiasts. Eminem was once reported to have purchased a BAYC NFT from OpenSea for $462,000, marking his official journey as a member of the BAYC community.

Meanwhile, Snoop Dogg was announced as a major investor in MoonPay in April, joining the ranks of other “industry VIPs” like Ashton Kutcher, Justin Bieber, and Bruce Willis. MoonPay also partnered with Snoop Dogg’s Death Row Records to create an NFT marketplace.
