Linktree is rolling out new features to the platform to allow creators to display their NFTs and monetize their craft.
Linktree, the link-in-bio platform, is the latest company to integrate new NFT features into its service. The move is part of the company’s efforts to launch new revenue streams for creators and brands.
With the integration of this new feature, there will be an NFT gallery to allow creators to display their NFTs directly on their profile pages. They can also use their NFT as a profile or background picture on the site.
Linktree is Latest Company Focused on NFT Integration
The latest company to explore the idea of NFT integration into its service. On Monday, Spotify announced a new feature it was rolling out in which artists can promote their NFTs on their profiles. Then last week, Instagram announced it would start supporting NFTs from the biggest blockchain networks. The list of digital giants looking to add NFTs to their platforms is expected to grow in the coming days.
LInktree revealed several new features allowing creators to display their NFTs and “build a community around ownership.” According to the company, the launch of these new features will open more avenues for creators to monetize their craft and systematize a digital identity. They developed these new features in collaboration with NFT marketplace OpenSea.
The new features include the NFT Gallery link feature, wherein creators can showcase their NFTs on the site. Creators can add the URL of a collection on OpenSea to populate a preview, and they also have the option to connect their MetaMask wallets for ownership verification. Another option is for creators to connect their MetaMask wallets and choose six NFTs to display. Users interested in purchasing the NFTs can click through to OpenSea to complete the transaction.
Verified NFTs can be displayed in a hexagonal frame and used as a profile image, reminiscent of Twitter’s NFT profile pictures. Linktree creators who choose to use NFTs for their background images will see a verification badge at the bottom, which, when clicked, will provide more information about the NFT.
Another feature that Linktree will be introducing is the NFT lock feature. With this one, creators can lock their links using a smart contract address. Only users who already own NFTs from a specific collection could unlock links, but they will need to connect their wallets to confirm ownership. According to Linktree, they said feature would enable creators to distribute benefits efficiently.
“With this launch, Linktree is providing meaningful features to empower creators in the Web3 space,” Linktree CEO Alex Zaccaria said. “This adds value by extending the core utility of NFTs—verified ownership, monetization, and community. As the number of creators tapping into web3 grows, Linktree provides these creators the tools they need to display their NFTs anywhere they have their Linktree link and to provide exclusive incentives to their community.”
Linktree’s current valuation is $1.3 billion, bolstered by the $110 million equity the company raised in March. According to Linktree, they receive 1.2 billion unique visitors monthly, which allowed more than 1 million artists to generate 90 million visits to streaming providers in 2021 alone. At present, more than 24 million creators composed of global artists and brands use Linktree, including NBA team Los Angeles Clippers, Shawn Mendes, Selena Gomez, and HBO.
