BlockBar, a wine and spirits NFT market, is launching a new contest for lucky BAYC holders that will land their BAYC NFTs on the Monkey Shoulder whiskey bottle.
Luxury wines and spirits like Patron and Hennessy have already dipped into the world of NFTs, thanks to the innovative ideas of the NFT platform BlockBar. However, BlockBar’s new collaboration takes the wine and spirits NFT market to a whole new level.
BlockBar has partnered with the popular NFT project Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) for an ultra-exclusive auction that will see ten lucky BAYC holders owning a personalized bottle of Monkey Shoulder whiskey. How personalized? The bottle labels will feature the BAYC holders’ unique Bored Apes.
Not a First for BAYC
It is not the first time the Bored Apes are dipping into the beverage business. After all, there is a bar in its swampland pad.
People who enjoy drinking high-quality beers or spirits have probably recognized an ape or two on some product labels. For instance, Mexican tequila company Siempre Tequila “hired” BAYC #5132 to be the face of its brand. Baptized with the nickname “Chido,” Siempre Tequila now calls #5132 BAYC’s “unofficial mixologist.”
Kyle Forgeard, Happy Dad Hard Seltzer’s owner, also hinted at a possible collaboration with BAYC #8928 for a banana-flavored seltzer he is working on. Then, the “Bored Ape Wine Co.” features BAYC #1839, #9904, and #3451 on the labels. So, BAYC really does seem to have a future in the beverage business.
Two Phases of the Launch
There are two phases to the launch, with the first one having started on April 25 and lasted through May 2. Winners of this phase will be announced on May 4, where ten lucky BAYC NFT holders who entered the contest will win 100 personalized bottles of Monkey Shoulder.
They will also receive 5% royalty fees whenever a BAYC Monkey Shoulder NFT with their Bored Apes on the labels trades on the secondary market. However, they will need to pay Ξ 3 for Monkey Shoulder to mint the personalized NFTs.
The second phase of the launch will start on Thursday, May 5, at 6 pm ET. On that day, BlockBar will drop 1,500 Monkey Shoulder bottles featuring their own sailor-themed Bored Ape, BAYC #5400. Anyone with a Bored Ape can claim a limited edition Monkey Shoulder NFTs, which will be released with exclusive merch for NFT holders of the BlockBar and Monkey Shoulder drop.
BlockBar will sell the bottles at Ξ 0.1 (50% discount) to BlockBar NFT holders. Unclaimed bottles will be released to the public via an auction on Thursday, May 12.
BAYC NFT holders who decide to customize a collection have the prerogative to sell, showcase, or gift their editions. What’s more, owners of this NFT drop will be granted access to a private house party happening in Miami this summer. Specific details will be provided at a later date.
