Seasoned actor and comedian Bill Murray is set to share his past and musings through an NFT collection soon to launch.
Those in the Hollywood loop have probably heard about the so-called “Bill Murray stories.” However, the actor is not one to confirm or deny those juicy bits, making him one of Hollywood’s most secretive icons. Until now, that is.
Not one to take the normal route, the enigmatic “Ghostbusters” actor is revealing his past and musings, albeit in an unconventional fashion. The seasoned actor is collaborating with viral photo site and streaming company The Chive to launch a line of NFT collectibles, a tell-all of sorts, that will share verified Murray tales.
“I asked Bill’s thoughts about all the Bill Murray stories swirling about. Bill gave a surprisingly candid answer, ‘I like them just fine. I was even present for a few.’ Bill leaned in with that mischievous twinkle in his eye, ‘But there are more stories out there, better stories,’”

And it seems an NFT collection is just the perfect instrument to tell all those stories to the public. Each token in the Official Bill Murray NFT 1000 will feature a unique Bill Murray graphic and a brief anecdote about the “Caddyshack” actor. The revealing story will either be something the actor personally told The Chive or something he is verifying from materials previously published.
Aside from documenting Murray’s encounters with fans and other celebrities, the narrative tales on the NFTs will range from professional topics and philosophical Murray-isms to his unusual pastimes and quirks.
Not a Fully Opened Book
Unlike most Hollywood celebrities, Bill Murray has always had an unconventional way of going about his life. In fact, there was a 2018 documentary that came out in which the actor did not lend his participation. Entitled “The Bill Murray Stories: Life Lessons Learned from a Mythical Man,” the documentary tried to capture some of the stories surrounding the actor.
In his NFT collection, Murray will give his own version of the anecdotes included in the abovementioned documentary. However, the NFTs will not address some of his most publicized stories to preserve some air of mystery.
Per The Chive, “Not all the stories Bill treasures most are about his films. And it occurred to me that we love Bill Murray as much as a person as much as we love him as a movie star. He’s the everyman’s celebrity. He doesn’t sell the tequila, he pours it.”
More details about the NFT collection and its accompanying tales and the NFT hero image commissioned by artist David Grizzle will be released in the coming weeks. As per Resig, proceeds from the first token that will be auctioned off will entirely go to charity.
The Official Bill Murray NFT 1000 will be one of the first NFT projects debuting on Coinbase’s soon-to-launch NFT marketplace.
Will it be worth buying Murray’s NFT collection? Well, the fact that each piece in the collection will be a tell-all of sorts and feature digital artwork from Grizzle could be a worthwhile reason to invest in it. Grizzle has previously depicted Murray in various artworks, so the NFT collection will surely be good art.
