Renowned talent agency UTA inks deal with Deadfellaz NFT collection co-creators to expand the project into other mediums.
California-based United Talent Agency (UTA) has inked a deal with the co-creators of the Deadfellaz NFT collection. UTA currently represents a roster of brands, artists, storytellers, and entertainers across the entertainment industry. The deal adds Deadfellaz to UTA’s growing list of digital talents, along with Meebits, CryptoPunks, and Autoglyphs.
Deadfellaz’s deal with UTA couldn’t have come at a better time, with Web3 products pushing deeper into the mainstream. The announcement was made through Deadfellaz’s Twitter account.
“The Horde” and Deadfellaz
Deadfellaz follows in the heels of other generative profile picture (PFP) NFT art collections like Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) and CryptoPunks. There are 10,000 different NFTs in the Deadfellaz project made up of zombie characters with various features.
Referring to themselves as “The Horde,” Deadfellaz NFT holders include Reese Witherspoon, Lionel Richie, Steve Aoki, Dillon Francis, and Alexis Ohanian. Witherspoon, Aoki, and Ohanian are active supporters of NFTs and the Web3.
Aside from collecting NFTs, they have collaborated with NFT projects, dropped their own NFTs, or invested in various Web3 projects. In fact, Hello Sunshine, Witherspoon’s media company, has partnered with the World of Women (WoW) NFT project to develop its NFT character universe into different entertainment properties, including scripted and unscripted TV series and feature films.
Holders of this collection enjoy many benefits, including access to virtual events and new collections. As of this writing, Deadfellaz NFTs have amassed Ξ 26.7K or about $82 million in sales.
UTA and Deadfellaz Partnership
The Deadfellaz NFT collection was minted in August and is co-created by two individuals using the pseudonyms “Betty” and “Psych.” This partnership with UTA will help the co-creators expand the Deadfellaz project into other mediums, such as merchandising, live events, brand partnerships, and gaming.
“We’re really excited to support not only a female-led project, but one that has continually vouched for authentic inclusivity and diversity in web3 since its inception,” Lesley Silverman, the head of Web3 at UTA, said of the Deadfellaz signing. “Betty and Psych are true visionaries and leaders, and we’re looking forward to all the ways we can work with them to bring value to the Deadfellaz community and make the metaverse a more equitable space.”
Meanwhile, Deadfellaz co-founder, Betty, shared news of their signing with UTA and said they were “very bullish on the future.”
“It is an honor and a pleasure to work with the team at UTA, who understand both the web3 space and our vision for Deadfellaz deeply,” Betty said in a statement. “This relationship combined with our boundary-pushing innovation paints a very exciting picture for the future of The Horde.”
That many NFT projects are getting noticed by mainstream talent agencies is a good sign. Deadfellaz is actually the latest in a string of NFT projects that have snagged exclusive representation and media expansion deals. These include BAYC and World of Women (WoW), represented by Guy Oseary, and Flower Girls, which has partnered with Dolphin Entertainment.
