Decentraland’s Metaverse Fashion Week is just around the corner, and some of the world’s major fashion brands will be gracing the event’s virtual catwalk.

The inaugural Metaverse fashion week is almost here, and fashion and Web 3 enthusiasts are expected to pay close attention to the goings-on during the event.
Decentraland will host the first-ever Metaverse fashion week (MVFW) from March 24 to 27, 2022. The event is touted to be a groundbreaking experience that will bring together the fashion industry and the virtual world like never before.
Decentraland will bring runway shows, afterparties, and pop-up shops throughout the four-day fashion extravaganza. Big-name fashion brands are also expected to showcase their fashion pieces in digital form and dress up avatars strutting down the virtual catwalks.
Anyone interested in being part of this virtual fashion spectacle can join MVFW beginning Thursday, March 24. Unlike typical fashion weeks where only invited guests get first dibs, MVFW is free and open to everyone. Visitors only need to log in to the Decentraland platform and navigate the correct space.
Powerhouse Brands Participating in MVFW
Because of the innovative manner in which Decentraland is bringing fashion week to the Metaverse, several fashion powerhouses were only too eager to participate in it. When Decentraland made the formal announcement about MVFW in February, Dolce & Gabbana, The Fabricant, Jacob & Co, and Selfridges were among the brands mentioned.
Several other brands followed suit, and although Tommy Hilfiger’s name was included, it wasn’t until last Monday, March 21, that the world-renowned fashion brand officially confirmed its participation at the MVFW. The brand even shared its exciting plans for the fashion event.
In a statement released by the company, the American brand said it would showcase its Spring 2022 collection during the MVFW and provide consumers with a “digital retail platform” featuring Tommy Hilfiger NFT assets. The company also said that joining the “Metaverse Fashion Week represents the brand’s focus on digital innovation ad exploring new consumer channels.”
According to a statement sent to Bitcoin.com News, the American fashion designer and founder of the brand Tommy Hilfiger said he never expected fashion events could be hosted virtually when he started his company.
“When I founded my namesake brand in 1985, I never imagined I’d see a time when fashion weeks would be held in a 3D, fully virtual world.”

“As we further explore the metaverse and all it has to offer, I’m inspired by the power of digital technology and the opportunities it presents to engage with communities in fascinating, relevant ways,” he added.
Will Tommy Hilfiger be a Future Web3 Powerhouse?
Hilfiger details that it is collaborating with Boson Portal to enable consumers to purchase Tommy Hilfiger items as NFT assets. Boson Portal is a Metaverse marketplace offering a “virtual lifestyle and cultural playground located in Decentraland.” Interestingly, owners of Hilfiger NFTs can redeem these for “physical products delivered straight to the customers’ door.”
“Consumers can teleport their avatar to the virtual store and shop a select range of limited-edition products from the Spring 2022 Tommy Hilfiger collection,” said Boson Portal. “Visitors will encounter floating 3D renders of signature styles, including the varsity jacket for men, the madras shirt for women, and a unisex hoodie featuring the iconic Tommy Hilfiger logo.”
