High-profile talent agency CAA just signed the creators of the Cool Cats NFT collection. This much-hyped collection has a community that boasts of celebrities like Reese Witherspoon, DJ Steve Aoki, and Mike Tyson.
Everyone who is into profile picture (PFP) NFTs has an idea of the Cool Cats NFT project. It’s the latest NFT project that those in the NFT community seem to be associating themselves with. So, what makes these cool feline characters special?
The Cool Cats NFT collection was co-founded by Rob Mehew, Colin Egan, Evan Luza, and Tom Williamson. It consists of 9,999 programmatically randomly generated NFTs, which blew the Ethereum blockchain to epic proportions in July 2021. Each Cool Cat in the collection carries various traits, including more than 300,000 probable combinations for a unique face, body, hat, and outfit attributes.
On its initial minting, the floor price for a Cool Cats NFT was Ξ 0.02, or about $68. Now, its current floor price is Ξ 8.60, or about $29,000. What’s more, several big-name celebrities have been endorsing this NFT project.
Boxing legend “Iron” Mike Tyson is among the biggest names to purchase a Cool Cats NFT. Tyson even displayed Cool Cat NFT as his Twitter profile picture about a week after the project’s official launch.
The Cool Cats NFT project has made considerable strides that typically take most companies a lifetime to reach within eight months since its launch. Thus, it’s not surprising that in early 2022, the company launched a spinoff known as Cool Pets, contributing to the brand’s success.
Since its launch, the Cool Cats ecosystem has constantly been evolving and expanding. In fact, Cool Cats’ trading volume is Ξ 95,400, or about $323,200,000. There are also 5,376 current holders of Cool Cats NFTs, accounting for 54.08% of the collection.
Even Cool Cats’ social media statistics showcase how popular this project is. Currently, the project has 100,283 Discord members and 192,384 Twitter followers.
Forging Strong Ties Through Collaborations
Perhaps a powerful testament to the popularity of the Cool Cats NFTs is the strong ties it has forged through big-time collaborations. For instance, back in August 2021, it partnered with Time Magazine. The Cool Cats team minted 400 NFTs based on four designs of their iconic feline characters reading the esteemed magazine.
Time President Keith Grossman said the collaboration happened because aside from being “family-friendly,” the Cool Cats community “exudes positivity and optimism” and can “connect cross-generationally.”
This time around, the Cool Cats brand has partnered with Creative Artists Agency (CAA), one of the most popular entertainment and sports agencies. The collaboration includes both the Cool Cats and Cool Pets NFT collections.
According to CAA’s announcement, the newly-forged partnership will help both parties identify and prepare opportunities for Cool Cats characters over a vast range of areas and industries. Said opportunities would include licensing and merchandising digital content in the hopes of forming brand partnerships and more.
With more than $250 million in cumulative sales since its launch, the Cool Cats NFT project shows tremendous growth opportunities. This collaboration with CAA would serve to help the brand grab more opportunities.
